A landlord cannot act in retaliation for the tenant’s “good faith” attempt to enforce the tenant’s rights. Acts amounting to retaliation include raising the rent, cutting services, ending the tenancy, evicting the tenant, or any other action that negatively impacts the terms of the rental agreement. If you have reported illegal conditions on the property or conduct of your landlord or another and the landlord has taken action to punish you for it, schedule an appointment with our office to see what remedies may be available.
